We get a lot of new businesses asking us about basic websites, some due to budget restrictions, others because they aren’t too sure if their business will increase by having an online presence and many because a basic website is all they require.
Budgets we can understand, it has not been easy for businesses over the past few years due to the pandemic and its even harder for new businesses who are having to do everything from scratch. We quite often work with clients who don’t have huge tax free, multi-corporation type budgets, if the budget turns out to be too small for us to do the required work we will always advice the client of alternative options.
For most small businesses new to the internet a simple startup website often works better, especially if it’s only needed to create an online presence and show the services that the business has to offer.
All of our websites including our basic startup sites are designed and built so they can be expanded at a later date.
Here are a few examples of some of the basic startup websites that we have built for our clients.
KATE BARTLE PHOTOGRAPHY

Kate wasn’t happy with the website someone had built for her so she started working on a replacement site. The problem was that it meant changing hosting providers as it was on a different platform, and in order to do that she would have to pay out more money for hosting, change the DNS records and then sort out new email accounts. Kate contacted us and asked if we could help her out as she wasn’t sure how to do it and also wanted her new website finished, she also enquired about our website management service.
After looking into everything and weighing up the various costs we suggested that we build her a brand new website using the layout she preferred and host it on our platform. This would save her money as both of her options had email as a paid for extra and no website management. Not only did we build her new site within the budget she had set aside for us to sort out her existing site, we hosted it on our platform (which includes email and website management) and delivered it all in a day so there was no down time on her website.
The Gretna Green Wedding Piper

Here we have a basic four page startup website that we built for Wedding Piper Alan Marshall, Alan wanted a simple website that he could link to his social media accounts.
The site has an “About Us” and “Contact” page as well as a “Gallery” section which can easily be updated to show off some of the many stunning photos and videos that have been taken of Alan over the years.
The home page graphic was done in house by ourselves and shows how one page can sum up what a website is all about.
Social Icons are conveniently located on each page that allows visitors to like, share and tweet about “The Gretna Green Wedding Piper” across many social media platforms.
This site is hosted by us on our Business Class Hosting Plan, which includes: .co.uk Domain Name Registration, Managed Hosting & Full Website Management.

R & D Photography

Here we have a typical example of a basic startup site that has been expanded by the customer to add more content.
Once we had built the basic site we spent time with the customer showing them how to add pages and additional content to their website, now the site has been transformed to include video gallery, guest book, client login and FAQ’s.
At first the customer was a bit apprehensive about making changes to the website, but with our support he soon got the hang of it and is now quite comfortable adding content to the site himself. Mind you it does help that he has a website support package which means we are always on hand to help him out if he does make a mistake and breaks something.
This was the second website we had built for this customer and was built using WordPress, it is hosted by us on our Premium Class Hosting & Support Plan, which includes: Managed Hosting and Full Website Support.

V-Tech Graphics

All this customer wanted was a simple business website, no bells or whistles, just a quick loading website that told people who he was and what he did. He didn’t have the best of budgets as his business like many others had been hit hard by the pandemic, as we already had a working relationship with the customer, we arranged suitable payment terms to help him out. We delivered exactly what he asked for, on time and within the agreed budget.
