This month we take a look at an ecommerce site that needed some tweaking up and social media integration.

The customer contacted us looking for some changes to her website, she wanted a complete new look to the front page, a new menu and her social media integration upgraded. She also needed some help linking her website store to her facebook page.

Because the site wasn’t hosted on our servers and there was no access to any kind of a control panel we first made a duplicate of the site, then we put it into a maintenance mode with a landing page explaining to visitors that the site was undergoing an upgrade.

Before we could start on the redesign we first had to sort out some issues with the database and go through the plugins removing and replacing the ones that were causing conflicts and issues with the site.

Our next step was to redesigned the front page, once the customer was happy with the layout we started selecting and optimising the images and began work on the menu and navigation.

Half way through the work we found out that the customer had bookings for the Friday, this was on the Thursday, so not wanting to have the website incomplete and in maintenance mode when the customer might need to use it we pulled out all the stops to get the job completed ahead of time.

By 8.30pm Thursday the site was finished and live online, social media integration was complete, the facebook page was linking up to the website products, the instagram feed was showing on the sites front page and the instant messenger chat was working fine. We also added some icons to allow the site to be shared on popular social media sites like twitter, facebook. linkedin and whats app.

A quick chat with the customer, a couple of tweaks to the font and the site was handed over ahead of time and within budget.

We monitored the site over the weekend and optimised a few more of the sites images to help the pages load a little faster to try to circumvent the slow server speeds that are indicative of other companies shared hosting packages.
